That's why I photograph families. Not because everyone needs to stand perfectly still and smile at the camera once a year,
but because this version of your family deserves to exist somewhere other than your memory.
At Kristin LaRue Photography, family sessions are relaxed, guided and centered around the people you love most.
I'll get the photograph where everyone is looking at the camera for Grandma.
But we'll also make room for the laughing, cuddling, chasing, squeezing and beautiful chaos that actually feels like your family.

You don't need perfectly behaved children.
You don't need to know how to pose.
And you definitely don't need to spend your entire session telling everyone to smile.
I'll guide you through the whole thing.
We'll create the traditional portraits you'll want framed, but we'll also photograph the connections between them
the way your child reaches for your hand, the ridiculous laugh your husband makes, the sibling relationship that's equal parts love and attempted murder.
Those are the photographs that become priceless later.

This is where we have time to slow down.
A Full Family Session gives us more freedom for different combinations, movement,
locations and the little moments that happen once everyone forgets they're supposed to be taking pictures.

STUDIO OR OUTDOORS?
Why choose just one look?
Family sessions can take place at KLP Studio in Paris, Texas or outdoors at a location that fits your family.
Studio sessions give us consistent lighting, privacy and a clean environment without worrying about Texas heat, wind, rain or mosquitoes the size of small aircraft.
Outdoor sessions give us room to move, beautiful natural light and the opportunity to photograph your family somewhere that feels meaningful.
For Full Sessions, we may be able to combine studio and outdoor portraits depending on timing, distance and available light.
WHAT IF MY KIDS DON'T COOPERATE?
Then congratulations.
You have children. 😂
Please don't spend the entire drive to your session threatening everybody in the car to smile and behave for the photographer.
I've been doing this since 2008.
I've met shy kids, wild kids, serious kids, kids who think I'm hilarious and kids who decide within approximately four seconds that they want absolutely nothing to do with me.
We'll figure it out.
I'll give your children direction when they need it, but I also leave room for them to be themselves.
Sometimes the photograph you end up loving most isn't the perfectly posed one.
It's the one where everybody lost it laughing five seconds later.
WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR?
You do not need to show up wearing identical white shirts and blue jeans.
In fact, please don't. We've survived that era. 😂
Choose colors that work well together without making everyone match exactly.
Neutrals, earth tones, denim, texture and layers photograph beautifully, but what matters most is that your clothing feels like you.
Once your session is booked, I'm happy to help if you're unsure whether outfits will photograph well together.
And yes—you can absolutely send me pictures while you're deciding.
YOUR FAMILY DOESN'T HAVE TO BE "PERFECT"
You don't need to lose ten pounds first.
Your kids don't need to be at the perfect age.
You don't need a perfectly coordinated wardrobe, perfectly behaved children or some imaginary future version of your family before you're allowed to be photographed.
Because while you're waiting for everything to be just right, they're still growing.
Take the pictures anyway.
Years from now, nobody is going to look at these photographs and wish you'd waited.
They're going to be glad you were there.
EXTENDED FAMILIES
Want to get grandparents, grown children, grandchildren and everybody else together?
Extended-family sessions are available, too.
Because these sessions involve more people, more combinations and usually more time, pricing is based on the size of the group and what you'd like photographed.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Can we bring our dog?
Absolutely. Pets are family, too.
Just let me know ahead of time so we can choose a location and session setup that works well for everyone.
Do you photograph just the kids during a family session?
Yes. Depending on the session length, we'll photograph different combinations in addition to the entire family.
Full Sessions give us the most flexibility for individual portraits and multiple family groupings.
Can we do studio and outdoor photographs during the same session?
With a Full Session, possibly. It depends on the time of day, weather, distance between locations and available daylight.
Do I have to order prints through you?
No. Your selected digital images include print rights, so you're welcome to print them yourself.
Professional print options are also available through your gallery if you'd rather have me take care of it.
Can I purchase more photographs?
Yes. Additional edited images beyond the number included with your session may be purchased for $10 each.
