When Should I Reserve My Newborn Session?

Newborn sessions are best reserved during pregnancy. Your due date will be placed on my calendar, and we’ll choose the final session date after your baby arrives. Babies rarely care about our carefully organized calendars, so flexibility is built into the process. If your baby has already arrived, please reach out anyway. I may still have an opening, and beautiful newborn portraits are not limited to one exact age or number of days.

Preparing for Your Session

Once your session is reserved, you’ll receive guidance to help you prepare for your baby’s first portrait experience. We’ll discuss colors, styling, family participation and anything meaningful you would like incorporated. If you have an heirloom blanket, sentimental item or family keepsake you would like photographed, let me know before the session so we can determine the best way to include it safely. For family-inclusive sessions, simple and coordinated clothing in neutral or complementary colors photographs beautifully and keeps the focus on your baby and your family’s connection.

Where are newborn sessions held?

Newborn sessions are photographed at KLP Studio in Paris, Texas. The studio includes newborn backdrops, wraps, outfits, blankets and props, along with professional lighting and everything needed to create a carefully styled experience.

When should I book?

I recommend reserving your session during pregnancy so your due date can be placed on my calendar. Once your baby arrives, we’ll confirm the final session date.

What if my baby has already arrived?

Please reach out! Depending on availability, I may still be able to accommodate your session. Older newborns can still be photographed beautifully, although posing and alertness may differ as babies grow.

What if my baby doesn’t sleep?

That’s okay. Babies are not expected to arrive knowing the photography schedule. We allow time for feeding, comforting and settling, and beautiful portraits can also be created while your baby is awake.

Do I need to bring props or outfits?

KLP Studio provides a carefully curated collection of newborn wraps, outfits, blankets, headbands, bonnets, backdrops and props. You are welcome to bring a sentimental item or heirloom, but please discuss it with me before your session.

Can parents and siblings be photographed?

Yes. Parent and sibling portraits are included in The Family Story session. The Baby Story is focused exclusively on the newborn.

How long will the session take?

Newborn sessions are intentionally flexible because every baby has different feeding and soothing needs. Please avoid scheduling anything immediately after your session so we can work patiently without feeling rushed.

When will we receive our photographs?

Your expected turnaround time and gallery details will be included in your session information. If an unexpected delay occurs, I will communicate with you and provide an updated delivery estimate.

Can I purchase additional images or prints?

Yes. Depending on your selected collection, additional digital images and professionally printed portrait products may be available for purchase.
