Because Their Place in Your Family Deserves to Be Remembered

The muddy paws. The excited tail. The ears that never quite stand the same way twice. The familiar face waiting for you at the end of every day.

Pets become part of our routines, our homes and our families. Pet portrait sessions at Kristin LaRue Photography are designed to preserve their personalities and the connection you share through warm, heartfelt and timeless photographs.

Sessions are available at KLP Studio in Paris, Texas or outdoors at locations throughout North Texas and beyond.

A Pet Portrait Experience Designed Around Them

Every animal has a different personality, energy level and comfort zone. Some are happiest sitting perfectly for a treat. Others would rather explore, play or pretend they have never heard their name before.

Your pet does not need to be perfectly trained to have beautiful portraits.

We’ll work patiently, take breaks when needed and use treats, toys and plenty of encouragement to create photographs that feel natural and true to them.

Your session may include:

Individual portraits of your pet

Photographs of multiple pets together

Portraits featuring you and your pet

Meaningful toys, collars or sentimental items

Studio or outdoor settings

A combination of posed portraits and natural moments

You don’t need to know how to pose them or somehow convince them to behave like professional models. That’s my job.

Studio or Outdoor Pet Portraits

Studio sessions offer a clean, comfortable setting with professional lighting and fewer outside distractions. KLP Studio is a wonderful option for creating simple, personality-filled portraits without worrying about Texas heat, wind or weather.

Outdoor sessions allow more room to move and may be a better fit for active pets who are happiest outside. We can choose a location that complements your pet’s personality while keeping safety, accessibility and available light in mind.

Most pets will remain leashed during outdoor sessions for their safety. When possible, visible leashes may be minimized during editing.

This is a great place for you to tell your clients more about your story and to describe the type of photographer you are. You can come back at any time to make more changes.

When It’s Time to Say Goodbye

Sometimes a pet session celebrates a new addition to the family. Other times, it preserves the final chapter of a life that has been deeply loved.

If your pet is aging, seriously ill or nearing the end of their life, please do not worry about waiting for the perfect day. They do not need to feel energetic, look perfectly groomed or behave a certain way. These sessions are gentle and guided by what your pet can comfortably manage. We’ll focus on the details you never want to forget—their face, their paws, the gray around their muzzle and the way they look at the people they love. When time is limited, please tell me when you inquire. I’ll do everything I reasonably can to prioritize your session so you have meaningful photographs before it is time to say goodbye and they make their journey to Heaven.

Preparing for Your Pet’s Session

Before your session, please tell me about your pet’s personality, energy level, health concerns and any anxiety, aggression, escape behavior or known triggers. I’ll also need to know how many animals will attend and whether they can safely be photographed together.

Please bring:

High-value treats

Water and a bowl

Waste bags

A favorite squeaker or attention-getting toy

Basic grooming supplies

A simple, neutral-colored leash

A little activity before the session may help an energetic pet relax. However, avoid completely exhausting them before we begin.

If you would like to be photographed with your pet, bringing another person to serve as a handler is highly recommended.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does my pet need to be well trained?

No. Basic commands can be helpful, but patience, treats and strategic timing go a long way. We’ll work in short bursts and allow your pet time to reset when needed.

Can I be photographed with my pet?

Absolutely. The relationship you share is an important part of their story.

I recommend bringing another person who can safely handle your pet when we create photographs of you alone.

Can I bring more than one pet?

Yes, as long as the animals can safely share the same space. Please tell me the number and species of animals when you inquire so we can plan the session appropriately.

Will my pet need to remain on a leash?

Most pets will remain safely controlled or leashed throughout the session, especially outdoors. When possible, visible leashes may be minimized during editing.

Can a sick pet come to the studio?

Pets with contagious illnesses cannot be photographed inside KLP Studio.

If your pet has a serious but noncontagious illness or physical limitation, please tell me so we can choose the safest and most comfortable session plan.

What happens if my pet will not cooperate?

We slow down, take a break and try something different.

Pets are not expected to understand the photography schedule.

Some of the most meaningful photographs happen between the perfectly posed moments.

Their Story Is Part of Yours

One day, the sound of their paws moving through the house will become something you wish you could hear one more time.

These photographs preserve more than what your pet looked like.

They hold their personality, the comfort they brought into your life and the place they will always have in your family.
